Yesterday, Viki.com was valued north of USD200m in a sale to Rakuten, a Japanese electronic commerce and Internet company. As the first Asia-raised startup of its kind to exit with a Silicon Valley-scale valuation, Viki.com marks a significant milestone in the growth of the region’s ecosystem.

In his first interview following the sale, co-founder Razmig Hovaghimian spoke about his journey with Hugh Mason, co-founder and CEO at JFDI.Asia, alongside whom Razmig worked at hackerspace.sg when Viki was still a dream.

Join JFDI.Asia’s friends and startups to celebrate this milestone for the Viki team and the region on Friday 6 September at 71 Ayer Rajah Crescent, Singapore 139951. Open house begins at 6pm and a panel discussion including investors connected to Viki.com will follow at 7.30.
