We developed a patent-pending platform for transforming passive TV viewing into an interactive experience. We let thousands of home viewers compete with one another in TV games. Home viewers can see themselves on TV and win prizes too.
Interactive television is catching on in Southeast Asia, among the emerging middle class who are enjoying feature and smartphones for the first time. Game shows and educational content offer an opportunity to win an ego boost by seeing their name and picture on national TV.
The problem with staging multiplayer game shows is video latency. Over different distances and/or transmission media, video is viewed at different times, some more delayed than others. When that happens, many viewers see the TV challenge ahead of others, giving them an unfair advantage – a fairness problem.
We developed a patent-pending system to synchronize viewers’ game play, resulting in fair play, regardless of the viewer’s location or transmission medium used.
