Junghee Ryo founded Olaworks in 2006, two years before Face.com & Google Goggles caught on with similar Computer Vision technology. In April 2012, Olaworks was acquired by Intel and continues to operate under its own brand.

It was an extraordinary journey, building on Junghee’s ten-year experience including two previous companies. On the way to success with Olaworks, he came to realize he adds most value as an inventor, not a CEO running a 60-person business. It was a huge step to recruit an outside CEO with 20 years of Microsoft experience but it was the breakthrough that led to Olaworks finally finding a successful business model to match its great technology, he tells JFDI.Asia’s Ray Wu.
